| Aug 1, 2011 | Started Chance on 2 cups of Purina Strategy GX on each day he trains. During the winter he was not on any supplements. Since May he has been getting free choice kelp and free access to a natural salt "rock". |
| Jul 28, 2011 | Wormed Chance with Ivercare (zimectrin). Mostly for bots. |

| Oct 3, 2010 | Chance's foot is better |
| Oct 1, 2010 | Trimmed |
| Sep 29, 2010 | Chance has sore foot. Most likely an abscess |
| Sep 26, 2010 | Raced |
| Sep 25, 2010 | Trimmed - just renewed mustang roll |
| Sep 17, 2010 | Went to training center to work |
| Sep 11, 2010 | Went to training center to work. See video below |
| Sep 7, 2010 | Went to training center. |
| Sep 4, 2010 | Trimmed |
| Sep 2, 2010 | Still very slightly laminitic and confined to round pen during the day. Gave massage. |
| Sep 1, 2010 | Very slightly laminitic from stressed grass. Confined to large round pen during the day, and given alfalfa while in there. |
| Aug 30, 2010 | Went to training center. Post-work liniment rub down on legs and hindquarters, along with red light treatment. |
| Aug 29, 2010 | Trip to TB center - no work. Trailer loading practice |
| Aug 26, 2010 | Added 2 ounces daily of Mega-Sel, and 3 tablespoons of MSM to his diet. Diet now includes 1 teaspoon of raw organic vinegar per day along with 1 teaspoon of cod liver oil (lunch), 1 teaspoon of copper and tablespoon of flaxseed oil daily, along with the MSM and Mega-Sel. |
| Aug 23, 2010 | Trimmed feet. |
| Aug 20, 2010 | Last week I doubled his grain ration, from 2 cups daily (1 each at breakfast and supper) to 4 cups daily. Today I added a third meal of 2 cups (lunch). Part of this is due to his workload, and part to the lack of rain lately, and the pasture not being as lush. |
| Aug 17, 2010 | Vet was here for dental work. Money Talkin had his teeth floated. He got a good massage before the vet arrived, and a red light treatment a couple hours later. |
| Aug 15, 2010 | Ate his breakfast with more enthusiasm than normal. Has some very slight filling in both front ankles. (The track at the TB Center is fairly deep sand.) |
| Aug 14, 2010 | Took Money Talkin to The Thoroughbred Center in Lexington, where he galloped 1 mile and breezed the final quarter. |
| Aug 11, 2010 | Gave red light treatment and some massage. He responded to the red light a lot as I did his loin and hip areas. Am theorizing that all that time with those long toes - forcing him to stand under himself - put abnormal strain on them, and perhaps even caused damage. Could be the reason he went through 3 rounds of rain rot on his butt. Also, where his back used to be extremely sensitive, shrinking away from the brush even, he now likes pressure, and strong scratching, on his topline. |
| Aug 6, 2010 | Vet was out for Coggins test, EHV-1 vaccination, health certificate, and to check his teeth. They looked good, just needs some minor floating. |
| Aug 5, 2010 | Trimmed feet and treated frogs with diluted tea tree oil. (no sign of infection). Rasped only as they were pretty well self-trimmed. The "lip" is about 1/4 inch from being completely gone. |
| Jul 29, 2010 | Started Chance on Hiltons Herbs - Echinacea Plus |
| Jul 12, 2010 | Changed bit to KK Sprenger bit |
| Jun 28, 2010 | Trimmed feet and gave a treatment with the McLaren Torch. (The McLaren Torch is a photonic device emitting only red light and is used similarly to acupuncture. The treatment was not for anything specific, just general health.) |
| Jun 19, 2010 | Rode Chance for the fourth time. This time we went out into what I call the big pasture. He was very good, but the bugs were driving him crazy, despite my having sprayed him with bug spray. |
| Jun 18, 2010 | Rode Chance for the third time. Again in the 10 acre pasture. Galloped for the first time. All other work had been at the trot as I want him to stay relaxed and calm. I am only days away from being 59 - and am not fit at all. |
| Jun 17, 2010 | Rode Chance for the second time. This time in the 10 acre pasture. He was good. I am not fit! |
| Jun 16, 2010 | Finally got on Chance. He stood quietly while I got on, and was very well behaved. I rode him around the small "dry lot" and he was good. It was too slippery to do much as it has been raining heavily every night. |
| May 5, 2010 | Put the saddle on Money Talkin again. This time he was much better, a little nervous, but no dramatic reaction. Lunged him and he seemed fine. Then took him to the mounting block and treated him just like I would a young horse who'd never been ridden. Slapped the saddle, pulled on the stirrups, laid across his back. He was fine. Then I put the bridle on him and did the same thing again. |
| Apr 30, 2010 | Was going to ride Money Talkin today, but his reaction to the saddle changed that plan. As soon as I began to do up the girth - not tight - he backed up and almost fell down. Who would have guessed he'd be that cold-backed? |
| Apr 29, 2010 | Put Chance on the lunge, this time with the Parelli bareback pad. Want to get him used to the idea of going back to work. He was fine. |
| Apr 22, 2010 | Had Chance on the lunge again today. |
| Apr 21, 2010 | Put Money Talkin on the lunge for the first time. Not for exercise, but to get an idea of his temperament and mood. He acted like he hadn't been lunged before but was calm and cooperative. He caught on pretty quickly. |
| Nov 29, 2009 | He cleaned up all grain with 3/4 dose of minerals. |
| Nov 28, 2009 | Money Talkin cleaned up all his grain with relish. Still at half dose of minerals. |
| Nov 27, 2009 | Today he cleaned up almost all his grain (at half dose of minerals). It's not a large amount of grain, only about a quart. |
| Nov 26, 2009 | Offered him grain again. (This is Omolene with the minerals mixed in). This time he ate some, but very little. Clearly he's suspicious of the mineral taste, and he's on pasture so is probably not very hungry. And he may be a bit of a picky eater. Zola cleans up her portion, and when offered his bucket Huey, Bettina, Roxie, and Lucy were happy to get some. He is still on the outskirts of the herd, not allowed within 100 feet of the main group. However individuals go up to him, including Zolla, so he is making friends. |
| Nov 25, 2009 | Put in with the herd. Had shoes removed. Offered grain with minerals in the morning, before being put in with the herd, but not interested. Too wound up. |
| Nov 24, 2009 | Arrived at farm! Kept separate from other horses for first night. |
